A major petrochemical facility undertaking a large-scale maintenance event required comprehensive safety support to manage complex operations, multiple contractors and a significant volume of safety-critical work. The client needed a partner capable of delivering not only specialist personnel and equipment, but also the planning, coordination and operational support necessary to keep the project running efficiently.
Breathe Safety was engaged to provide a fully integrated safety services package, working closely with the client before and throughout the shutdown period. Early involvement allowed our team to support detailed project planning, including ventilation strategies, rescue arrangements, equipment resource planning, personnel flow management and the establishment of dedicated safety support facilities.
As the maintenance programme progressed, Breathe Safety supplied a large team of specialist personnel covering rescue provision, standby duties, technical support and workshop operations on a 24/7 basis. Resourcing levels were continually adjusted to meet changing project demands, helping the client maintain effective safety coverage while controlling costs.
A wide range of specialist equipment was deployed to support the event, including breathing apparatus, gas detection, ventilation systems, lighting and other monitoring technologies. Area gas monitoring was also implemented in key locations to help maintain safe conditions around occupied temporary facilities and work areas.
To maximise operational efficiency, dedicated on-site support facilities were established throughout the project. These included equipment cleaning and maintenance capabilities, breathing apparatus recharging facilities and training resources for confined space and breathing apparatus users. Having these services available on site helped minimise downtime and ensured equipment remained available whenever required.
Regular rescue drills were conducted alongside operational teams to validate emergency response arrangements and confirm that rescue plans remained effective as work scopes evolved. This collaborative approach helped maintain confidence in safety arrangements throughout the project while ensuring readiness for a range of potential scenarios.
Beyond operational delivery, Breathe Safety also managed the coordination and administration associated with the safety programme, reducing the burden on the client and allowing project teams to focus on delivering the maintenance work itself.
